DERMAL FILLERS IN NEW JERSEY
For many patients, loss of volume causes many of the first signs of aging. Facial fat loss creates hollows under the eyes, deep nasolabial folds, marionette lines and shrinking lips, chins and earlobes. These are among the initial changes that can make you start thinking about facial rejuvenation. New Jersey and Philadelphia area facial cosmetic surgeon Dr. Susan Hughes offers a variety of dermal fillers for women and men who are not quite ready for surgery, but would like to take a few years off of their appearance.
Your Dermal Filler Options
Dr. Hughes offers widely used, safe, and effective dermal fillers to her Philadelphia and New Jersey patients who want more youthful full faces and firmer skin without surgery. Fillers such as JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel, Restylane® and Perlane®, Sculptra® and RADIESSE® offer New Jersey and Philadelphia patients medically proven safety and lasting results. BOTOX® Cosmetic for New Jersey and Philadelphia men and women is an excellent adjunct to fillers, not only to soften dynamic wrinkles, but to help retain your filler 15% longer.
- Juvederm Ultra Plus
Three of the most popular fillers we offer – JUVÉDERM, Restylane and Perlane – are made of a synthetic hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the body, giving volume and hydration to the skin. These fillers can safely and effectively:
- Add volume to the lips and smooth lines around the mouth
- Fill tear troughs or hollows beneath the eyes
- Diminish the appearance of lines and wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds
- Build up the cheekbones
- Lift the eyebrow as it fills in the forehead
- Fill in earlobe creases
Since the synthetic hyaluronic acid in these fillers is identical to what the body produces, there is no need for allergy pretesting, and no risk of allergic reaction. Since the products are biocompatible and biodegradable, they will be gradually broken down and eliminated harmlessly by the body in approximately 6 months, however it can be retained around the eyelids for 18 months.
RADIESSE and Sculptra are made from different products with similar but different results. RADIESSE is made up of calcium hydroxylapatite particles which are a white paste instead of the clear gel of a hyaluronic acid, and it feels a bit firmer than the softness of the hyaluronics. The real value here is that this product can last for 18 months. It is not recommended as a first time filler, and cannot be used in the lips.
Sculptra is composed of tiny molecules of poly-L-lactic acid, which stimulates the production of collagen over time. Its main strength is that it gradually builds up the facial fullness desired over 4 months. Some people want the results to be less obvious immediately, but many patients find the longer process too frustrating and time consuming. This volumizer does last up to 18 months, however.
After you and Dr. Hughes have determined which filler is right for your needs, you will be ready for treatment. As an experienced oculoplastic and facial cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Hughes has many years of experience performing intricate procedures like blepharoplasty in New Jersey, which allows her to administer injectable fillers artfully and effectively for results that are natural, but noticeable. The injection is made with a tiny needle, and most patients experience minimal redness and swelling at the injection site. Injections around the eyes have a higher risk of bruising, however, and this may take 10 to 14 days to clear up. It is not uncommon for most patients to return to work or routine activities immediately after their appointment. To learn more about various fillers, please visit our FAQ page.
Results are immediate, except for Sculptra, and depending on the filler selected and the area treated, filler results can last from 6 to 9 months or more. Many of our patients find that regularly scheduled treatments tend to improve the longevity, and build on the results of their previous treatments. For more permanent results, face lift surgery near Philadelphia may be an appropriate option.
