Case 56 Surgical Rejuvenation
This 60 year-old woman felt like her sagging eyelids were making her look tired and old.Surprisingly for her age, her eyebrows were nice and high.To rejuvenate her upper lids, an upper lid blepharoplasty with an incision in her eyelid crease to remove excess skin and fat was chosen, and this result was polished by doing laser skin resurfacing above the incision to smooth out her skin.Her lower lids only needed skin resurfacing to smooth out and tighten the skin. She did not need any fat removed or added to her face. This was good for her and again unusual for her age.Since her eyelids were going to be lasered, and because she was also bothered by her full facial wrinkles, she decided to have her entire face shrink wrapped and tightened by laser skin resurfacing.She is seen 2 weeks and 14 years after this surgery, and to this day she continues to use her retin A and glycolic acid to maintain her rejuvenation, and to act as natural moisturizers.
