Many of us have battled unwanted hair for years by waxing, tweezing, shaving or using messy depilatory creams. While the excess hair can be embarrassing, the process of removing it can be almost as bad.

At the Hughes Center for Aesthetic Medicine, we perform laser hair removal for our New Jersey and Philadelphia patients who are troubled by unwanted hair. The permanent hair reduction that results means less time, money, and hassle spent on those other hair removal methods.

Because only 20% of our hair is in the active growth phase and visible to you. It takes 6 weeks for the next round of hair to erupt from the skin surface, so it can be treated again.

The system is designed to offer you a customized treatment according to your hair color and skin type. It uses pulsed light to heat damage the hair follicle, and after the series of 4-6 treatments, 60-70% of the hair is permanently removed. Typically, the hair that re-grows is finer and lighter. It does not work on gray or white hair.

On your first visit, you will be given a patch test and consultation with one of our certified aestheticians. Several treatments are required, with most patients averaging 3 to 5. However, treatments vary depending on hair color and location. Generally, one visit will last approximately thirty minutes. Following your appointments, you may resume all your daily activities with very few side effects. You should limit your sun exposure for 2 weeks before and after your  treatments.
